Hi, I'm Linda! Mommy, baketress, hiker, and connoisseur of French toast. I have an irrational affection for butter and sugar that has had me baking since I could stand on a stool and reach a bowl. I’ve baked and consumed more pecan sticky buns and pumpkin pies than I’d care to fess up to. And I truly believe that the best part of baking is sharing. When I'm not in the kitchen you'll find me on a mountain top, climbing a rope or halfway across the globe; eating my way through other countries’ delicacies.
Why the purple spoon? I became enamored with Julia Childs during my brief stint as a stay-at-home Mom with my son. The very first episode of The French Chef that I saw was her “Apple Dessert” or La Tarte Tatin. As Julia is explaining how to slice and prepare the apples, she just slips in, “and you stir it with a purple spoon!” I just loved how absolutely random a comment it was (and how can you go wrong with the color purple)! The quip was used repeatedly as I baked the following months. My love of baking and sharing quickly turned into a blog and The Purple Spoon was born.
